Call for Papers and Panels

The 24th Biennial Conference of the European Association for Chinese Studies (EACS) will be held in Olomouc, Czech Republic, from August 24 to August 27, 2022. It is jointly organised by the EACS and the Department of Asian Studies at Palacký University Olomouc.

Scholars of Chinese Studies from Europe and beyond are invited to submit their proposals for contributions in one of the following categories:

  1. Archaeology & Material Culture​
  2. Chinese as a Foreign Language  ​
  3. Arts and Art History​
  4. Digital Humanities ​
  5. Economics​
  6. Environment​
  7. Gender and Queer​ Studies
  8. History (Modern)​
  9. History (Premodern)​
  10. Science and Technology​
  11. Language and Linguistics​
  12. Law & Human Rights​
  13. Literature (Modern) ​
  14. Literature (Premodern)  ​
  15. Music and Performing Arts  ​
  16. Philosophy and History of Thought​
  17. Religion​
  18. Politics and International Relations​
  19. Sinophone World​
  20. Sociology and Anthropology  ​
  21. Interdisciplinary Field​

The board accepts proposals in the following formats:

  1. Panel proposals – max. 250 words, including the name of the panel organizer, chair, participants and optionally a discussant; 3–4 paper abstracts with max. 250 words per abstract. On the Easychair submission website, we have also added the option to organize the “double panel”.
  2. Individual paper proposals – max. 250 words
  3. Alternative formats – max. 250 words, please include the name of the organizer, all the participants and specify the format (e.g. workshops, film screenings)

The proposals should be submitted in the form of abstracts by January 15, 2022 (23:59 CET) via Easychair for a double-blind evaluation by an international board of referees.

Scholars will be notified about the peer-review results by March 31, 2022. The language of the conference is English.
