Electricity

Czech sockets are standard European sockets CEE 7/5, with a voltage of 230 V/50Hz. All visitors coming from countries using appliances/plugs that do not work with such sockets/voltages (e.g. USA, UK) are advised to bring adapters.

Emergency

In case of emergency, you can call the free emergency telephone number 112 (ambulance, fire and rescue, police).

Medical Emergency

The Olomouc University Hospital provides non-stop Emergency Medical Service (Ambulance) and Emergency Pharmacy; see the official website for detailed information.

Money

The Czech koruna (CZK or Kč) is the official currency in the Czech Republic. The approximate exchange rate (as of 27 March 2022) is 24.5 CZK to a Euro and 22.5 CZK to a US Dollar. Exchange rates for all major currencies are available here. Most shops and restaurants accept credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard).

Weather

The Czech Republic has a temperate continental climate, with temperatures averaging 20°C during the day in August. August is usually the warmest month. However, a raincoat or an umbrella may be of some use.
